Constitution of the Broadstairs Active Retirement Association (BradARA)
Name
The club shall be known as The Broadstairs Active Retirement Association (hereinafter referred to as BradARA
Objectives
To provide members with opportunities to make friends and engage in activities through attending regular meetings, joining in with outings and social and cultural events
Membership
Membership of BradARA shall be open to local men and women who are retired or semi-retired
All members are required to attend at least six meetings per year and actively participate in some of the events and activities arranged by the committee. Officers
The officers shall be Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Secretary Raffle and Bookings Representative and such other officers as BradARA shall from time to time determine
All officers shall be elected at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). They shall hold office until the next AGM and be eligible for re-election. Committee
The committee shall consist of the Officers and members. There will not be less than six and no fewer than ten members elected at the AGM. The committee shall have power to co-opt and fill casual vacancies provided that the limit of ten is not exceeded. The committee shall also have powers to fill any casual vacancy of officers.
Persons holding dual membership will not be eligible to serve on the Committee of BradARA
After the initial set up of BradARA members will be eligible for election to the Committee after a term determined by the Committee.
Annual General Meeting - AGM
The AGM shall be held within three months after the end of the financial year at a date to be fixed by the committee. Fourteen days notice of the meeting will be given to the members.
Business at the AGM shall include a) the election of the Officers and Committee b) the appointment of the auditors c) consideration of the audited annual accounts and d) the Chair’s report
Nominations for Officers and Committee should be in writing and handed to the Secretary at least ten days before the AGM. Should nominations exceed vacancies election shall be by ballot.
Special Meetings
A special meeting of BradARA shall be called by giving fourteen days notice to members upon written demand of ten members or by the Chair or Committee.
Quorum
The quorum for meetings of BradARA shall be twelve members and for the Committee four members.
Rules for Procedure
All questions arising at meetings shall be determined by a simple majority of those present voting. In the case of equality of votes, the Chair shall have a second or casting vote.
Finance
The financial year of BradARA shall run from 1st September to 31st August each year.
The annual accounts of BradARA shall be audited by an auditor or auditors by appointed by the AGM or by the Committee.
The full membership subscription 2022 shall be £26.00 (£14 Social Members)per annum or as otherwise determined by the AGM.
Amendments to the Constitution
Any amendment to the Constitution shall only be made at the AGM or at a special meeting called for the purpose.
Any notice of a motion in respect of the matter must be received by the secretary at least fourteen days before the meeting.
